Sustainable Living

What is an Environmental Management Plan?

The environmental management plan has been prepared in order to meet a number of planning conditions which require that a management plan be prepared prior to commencement of development of phases 4 & 5 of the Bolnore Village. The key issues which the conditions are meant to address are to minimise impacts to ecology, to seek ecological enhancement wherever possible, to define the width of the buffer zone around the fringes of the development, and to define and/or limit land uses within the buffer zone and open spaces.

The species/groups targeted include; birds, bats, mammals [including dormice (Muscardinus avellanarius) and badgers (Meles meles)] invertebrates, plants, reptiles & amphibians. Each of the strategies will remedy any effects of the phases 4 & 5 development on one or more of these groups. Together these strategies will ensure the biodiversity of the site as a whole is maintained and improved where possible. The site layout and design has taken into account ecological constraints.

As part of the plan we have developed a brief guide to sustainable living in Bolnore Village.
