Sequential Tests

Schedule 4 Part II (4) of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) (England and Wales) Regulations 1999 states that an Environmental Statement should, “outline the main alternatives studied by the applicant and also indicate the main reasons for his choice, taking into account the environmental effects”.

Further information on the consideration of alternative sites is also outlined within a publication entitled Environmental Impact Assessment: Guide to Procedures (May 2006). In which the following is stated:

“It is widely regarded as good practice to consider alternatives, as it results in a more robust application for planning permission. Also, the nature of certain developments and their location may make the consideration of alternatives a material consideration. Where alternatives are considered, the main ones must be outlined in the Environmental Statement”

Foxley Tagg have a breath of experience in the undertaking of a range of Sequential Tests for a range of projects and planning needs, in order to provide a robust assessment of the most suitable sites for the development of particular schemes.

Foxley Tagg’s proficient approach to sequential testing means the team is able to successfully manage and negotiate throughout the planning process with LPA’s on behalf of the client.
