Foxley Tagg News - Cutting the Sod Ceremony Takes Place

With demolition of the existing college buildings taking place throughout December 2009, work has now begun on the construction of the new college facility, which is due to open in September 2011.

Corby Borough Council granted planning permission for the redevelopment of the site in February 2009. Facilitating the development of a new 10,300m² college campus, including floodlit sporting facilities.

The building was been designed by Bond Bryan to compliment Tresham’s long history of providing high quality courses. The new facility will provide enhanced IT provision, and will enable the College to introduce a number of other course areas into the Town, including Sport, Health Care and Child Education, Business and Uniformed Public Services.

A turf cutting ceremony was held yesterday to launch Tresham College of Further and Higher Education’s brand new £36 million campus in Corby, Northamptonshire. With the first sod being cut by Phil Hope, MP for Corby and East Northants and Minister for the East Midlands.

Principal of the College Mark Silverman said:

This will be a very important day for the development of Tresham and our commitment to providing high quality learner experiences at each of our campuses and on every course. Following our good Ofsted report we strive to be an outstanding provider for education in the area and this new campus in Corby, which will compliment our Kettering campus which was opened in 2007, is our next step in a very important journey forward.
